Filtration is a mechanical or physical operation which is used for the separation of solids from fluids (liquids or gases) by interposing a medium through which only the fluid can pass. Oversize solids in the fluid are retained, but the separation is not complete; solids will be contaminated with some fluid and filtrate will contain fine particles (depending on the pore size and filter thickness).
The remainder of this article focuses primarily on liquid filtration. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License Will religion eventually be filtered out of human society following Darwin's theories? Q. First off, i'd like to point out that the ONLY reason for religion lasting so long in human kinds history is because it provided some kind of "togetherness", almost like an extended family. This trait was favored among survival of the fittest in the past. But with the world we face now, how long until religion is slowly filtered down to nothing? Why is it so hard for people to grasp and acknowledge science and see religion for what its worth? Survival of the fittest can't always support these money-hungry religions forever. Asked by Ra - Thu Sep 3 11:26:58 2009 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments A. Religion will, sadly, go on a long way, because even if science proves it wrong, there will always be uneducated or simply unintelligent people who either don't have access to information or can't understand science. And then there's the intelligent and educated people who are too weak/emotionally unstable or immature to accept that there simply is no objective proof of god's existence, not to mention that most of (if not all) religions are ridiculously far from something that a perfect, all knowing and all loving being would say/create. They will lie to themselves so they will be able to take refuge in religion, because they can't face life without believing that a greater power loves them, helps them, created them with a plan and… [cont.] Answered by DarkObscurity - Thu Sep 3 11:54:36 2009 Is tap or filtered water better for keeping flowers fresh? Q. I have wondered this for a looong time, but never asked it. For keeping flowers fresh at home, is it best to use water straight out of the faucet (mine is your average tap water), or is it better to use filtered water from a Brita filter/pitcher, etc. Might make no difference at all, but that's what you decide. If you get distilled water you should be fine... The difference you will notice is only going to be a day or two! The most important thing to do is keep the flowers out of direct sun or from heat. This will speed the bloom life up. Make certain to replace the water often - do not let it get stagnant... or cloudy. Trim off the foliage below the water line. Answered by Cerulean Blue - Mon Apr 20 17:58:50 2009 should i put my Betta fish in a filtered tank?
Q. I bought a betta fish from walmart and he is doing fine in a regular bowl but its hard to keep the bowl clean and im afrade he will freaze to death sometime soon. so should i buy him this filtered tank they sell at walmart for about 10 dollers. or will that stress him out and kill him? Asked by mailmanorwoman - Wed Jul 23 15:13:26 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Bettas do need a filter just like any other fish. It keeps it healthier and happier. It will not stress him out. For some strange reason people think bettas like to swim around in their poop and this is far from the truth. Try a sponge filter or Bio Wheel as their currents are not too strong. (If a current is too strong the water can catch the bettas long fins like the wind with a kite) You can almost use any filter though if you tie some pantyhose or something to where the water comes out to reduce the flow and make it suitable for bettas. And don't forget a heater! Bettas are tropical fish and need the water in their tank to be about 75-80F. Without one they are lazy and have a good change at getting sick. Good luck!
